It doesn’t make alot of sense to spend hours of time and 400 yards of yarn to make something when you have no idea what it will look like when it is finished. Especially when it is something that you don’t necessarily need. Yet here we are, my sister and I, both valiantly striving to finish Chart C – which is 72 rows of knitting for her and 96 rows of knitting for me – before next Thursday when Chart D comes out, to make this mystery shawl. And for one good reason.
It was designed by Wendy Johnson.
And Wendy designs beautiful shawls. What follows are some pictures of her designs which convinced me that taking the plunge on anything she designed was worth the time and the effort. If you hold the cursor over the picture the name of the shawl should light up.
Gorgeous, aren’t they? She also has a book coming out on her lace designs called Wendy Knits Lace.
I love the scarf on the cover already.
Now, we did not get hooked on Wendy Johnson for her shawls – it was originally her sock patterns that established her as a designer for my sister and I – specifically the fact that she literally wrote the book on how to knit socks from the toe up.
Both my sister and I own this book and that is one of our plans for this year – to learn how to knit socks from the toe up together.
Are those great socks or what!!! If Wendy Johnson is doing the designing, and its a freebie, I don’t need to know what it is going to look like in the end. I know it will be great!!
