Hawk Studio – I LOVE Deerskin

So this week Chip completed a beautiful deerskin vest in the warm golden tone I love.

It is made in the rough edge style I love too.  This is, to me, what sets Chip’s work off from alot of the other leather work I see.  There is a rustic beauty to it that evokes a connection with nature and the animal who the piece is part of.  It honors the spirit and the soul of the animal from whence it came.

Chip’s handwork is evident throughout the piece.  He added the hand-lacing in the yoke . .

and he handstitched the entire piece – including the added cross-stitch along the shoulder seams.

This piece is obviously one that spoke to Chip – and is embellished with an applique he made which connects the vest to him.  It is likewise hand-stitched.

Hard to say if you look better coming or going wearing this vest.

This particular piece retails for $375.00  It is sooooo cool.  I love it when he is constructing clothing because he has a real flair for working with soft leather that most people don’t see.  Hope you like it.

Now I’ve got to run to the store – found a Bon Appetit recipe that uses yellow cherry tomatoes.  How could I pass it up?  Tomorrow we talk lemon curd.  See ya.

About Shelly R.

I am a Mother, a daughter, a sister, a wife, an attorney, a crafter and the granddaughter of an amazing woman - my Polish Grandmother. My Grandmother gave me so much, through her love and her patience, her sayings and her time teaching me how to craft and to give to others, that it seemed fitting to share some of that wisdom, to tell some of her story, and to chat about life and crafts in a way that would be a testament to what she gave me.
