A Fun and Busy Few Days

First, I want to share a picture of Chip with our beloved puppy Gandalf.

I love this photo.  Being part sheep dog it is not always possible to get a picture of Gandalf’s eyes, so I was really happy to be able to catch him in this one.

Friday was Veteran’s Day so the Scouts were walking in the Veteran’s Day Parade.

Markus took this picture of Chip.

I thought he did a pretty good job.

The boys lined up with their Pack to walk the parade route.

Vash is the long-haired kid in the back between Jesse and Markus.

Markus walked with the Webelos, Jesse with the Bears . . .

and Vash, being Vash, with the Wolf Scouts.

After the parade was the annual Raingutter Regatta Races where the boys race the sailboats they made using their own wind power.

Vash was up first

and he won his first heat.

He then went up for his second heat full of confidence.

But alas, he found himself falling behind in the beginning . . .

and in the end, even trying to add some extra current with his hair could not get him the win this time.

After successful runs at the earlier rounds, our two older boys found themselves pitted against one another in the race.

But only one could prevail – and the winner was . . . (in an unexpected upset)

JESSE!!

Again, like Vash, Jesse went into the next heat with intensity and concentration. . .

and lost.

But it is all good.  There is always next year.

Saturday my beloved Sister Danielle came to spend a part of the day with me – and brought me my Christmas present early.

Isn’t it just amazingly beautiful?

Look at the detail in her work.

It is the Vernal Equinox pattern shawl that I absolutely love and in my color blue – which is the color I wear practically daily (since it goes with blue jeans – yeah, I’m an old hippie).  This was her super secret project she has been working on for the past few months and I couldn’t be happier that it was for me!!!  LOVE IT!!

I am SOOOOOOO wearing this to Rhinebeck next year.

Now I just have to figure out which way to wear it to give the pattern the most visibility because I want to show it off.  (It of course was worn to church this morning with all black so the shawl could be the star!!)  So I could wear it like a normal shawl, which I did today. .

or I could wear it sideways, over the shoulder.

Not sure which I like more, but I plan on wearing it so much that it won’t matter which way I wear it!!  Love it, love it, love it!!!

So, there is more we did during her visit but you will have to wait until tomorrow’s project report to see it!!  It was just a fun fun day.  Hope you liked the pics.

About Shelly R.

I am a Mother, a daughter, a sister, a wife, an attorney, a crafter and the granddaughter of an amazing woman - my Polish Grandmother. My Grandmother gave me so much, through her love and her patience, her sayings and her time teaching me how to craft and to give to others, that it seemed fitting to share some of that wisdom, to tell some of her story, and to chat about life and crafts in a way that would be a testament to what she gave me.

Oh wow, the shawl looks sooooooo good with all black under it. You just may have to wear that outfit everyday! Did anyone at church say anything about it? And those pictures of Chip are great! I can’t wait to see your post about our class. I might steal the pictures of you in teh shawl for my FB and ravelry page if that’s ok?

You absolutely can steal the pictures of the shawl YOU made for your pages. And yes, the black just makes a perfect background for the blue. Everyone who saw it at church commented about how beautiful it was – and then I pointed out the detail and that you made it and there were alot of people in awe of your talent. I loved the reaction at the Warm Ewe where everyone came to see it and here were women who KNEW what went into it!! That’s the most fun.
