Tonight I don’t have any of Chip’s work to show you.
Nope. Nothing.
Tonight it is all about Markus.
Markus has been very busy working with Chip, learning skills – like woodburning – so he could start working with Chip in Hawk Studio.
He got his first chance to use those new skills when he made a wristband that he gave to Jesse for his birthday.
He made this from a belt-end. He edged it, put the snaps in and burned the pattern into the band.
He’s 9.
I thought this was pretty cool. Jesse loves it.
Markus also worked with Chip and learned how to make a basic belt pouch. Here it is in the beginning stages. (Markus took the picture).
While Chip cut the leather pieces which make up the body of the pouch, Markus cut out the flap piece, punched all of the holes, hand sewed the seams, wet-molded the pouch and dyed the leather (not necessarily in that order).
He also stitched the belt loops onto the back of the pouch
and sewed the front flap on to the body of the pouch.
Chip provided the braided lace and the antler crown button, but Markus sewed them onto the pouch.
This is his first pouch.
Pretty good for a 9 year old.
I think he has a bright future.
And Chip may have a new business partner.
Oh, that is just amazing, and so fine!!
Wow Markus! Very impressive!
Great job Markus! I see where Uncle Chip gets his talent from Ha!!
