Monday Project Report – Markus Made A Cool Owl

Things have been a little busy lately on the yarn front – I have been tagging and re-skeining and inventorying my dyed yarns to be ready for the next show – so my project work has not been making much headway.  But with the end of school, projects made by the boys are working their way home.

One very cool project was made by Markus.  Markus is a reader and he loves the Harry Potter books, so I was not surprised when he came home with this very cool snowy white owl.

The Owl is based upon Harry Potter’s pet owl and is a wonderful place to stash a small secret or two.

He made it using a coil of clay.

It took him two days to make – including the painting.

It was fired before he painted it.

Harry’s owl in the book has spots – which is how you know this owl is based on the book – not the movies.  Markus has read the first three books completely.  The fourth may wait until he gets older – it is kinda boring if you are a kid.

All of the boys did projects at school that we saw when we went to the Spring Into Learning open house at school.  Markus did a self-portrait – that he is standing under.

Jesse did a project opening owl pellets and putting the bones together to figure out what creature the owl ate.

It was a little tough to get a picture of him near the display – it just did not photograph well in the plastic bags against the black construction paper.

Vash’s class did a project working on poem writing, which involved using descriptive terms around a single idea.  As we know, Vash likes birds.

Vash, our Mr. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle kid, also did a poster which was outside of his class about littering.

So that’s it for today.  Getting to a Monday without a project of my own to show you has motivated me – I have to get more done on my own project so some progress is made on getting my own knitting done.  I have a BIG yarn stash to get through so I better get moving.

Here’s to the beginning of a busy and hopefully productive week.

About Shelly R.

I am a Mother, a daughter, a sister, a wife, an attorney, a crafter and the granddaughter of an amazing woman - my Polish Grandmother. My Grandmother gave me so much, through her love and her patience, her sayings and her time teaching me how to craft and to give to others, that it seemed fitting to share some of that wisdom, to tell some of her story, and to chat about life and crafts in a way that would be a testament to what she gave me.
